The hotel staff, including the Front Desk, Concierge and Bell Team, were attentive, professional and readily available to assist. Their service contributed positively to our stay and reflected the level of hospitality expected of a St. Regis property.
However, the comfort and functionality of the room assigned to us could be improved. The mattress felt somewhat sunken and was not as firm or comfortable as expected. Given the standards associated with the St. Regis brand, we felt that the sleeping comfort could have been better.
There were also a few functional issues. The quick-dial “Reception” button on the room telephone was not working, leaving us uncertain whether to press 0 or 9 when assistance was required. In addition, the touch-sensitive buttons in the room were not particularly responsive, which made them less intuitive and convenient to use.
Overall, the stay was satisfactory. The St. Regis team delivered good and attentive service, and the property was clean and well maintained. I chose the Kempinski for my trip to Chengdu this time. The location is great, right next to Tongzilin subway station, making it very close to Chunxi Road and Yulin. The room was newly renovated, clean, and comfortable, with very soft bedding that ensured a great night's sleep. The bathtub was also perfect for unwinding. Breakfast was a highlight, featuring freshly cooked Dan Dan noodles and tofu pudding, with both Western and Chinese options, all tasting delicious. The service was also top-notch; both the front desk and housekeeping were very responsive.
